'' Theres a constant need in the growing spa industry for well-trained managers. Humbers program covers all the relevant information and skills needed to succeed in this. Part of the courses focus on business knowledge and skills such as small business management, retail buying and operations, human resource management, marketing, advertising and sales. The other focus is on professional esthetician skills like body, skin and spa therapies and treatments (including alternative spa therapies like aromatherapy and oxygen therapy), product knowledge, cosmetics application and spa industry standards, regulations, policies, procedures, ethical, health, safety, sanitation and infection control guidelines.
Both the medical spa, and the new trend in cosmeceutical products (combining drugs and cosmetics) are studied in the context of the limitation of the spa manager/estheticians scope of practice. Students receive extensive hands-on experience in spa management and esthetician skills in the Spa @ Humber lab. A 60-hour work placement offers students experiences in the real world. The well-rounded curriculum successfully prepares graduates to assume various positions in spas, resorts, and hotels, or to run their own business. ...''
