Course Description:
'' Network security has never been so critical as it is today as more and more classified information is being stored on databases all over the world. In fact, according to an Infonetics Research report, the $1.2 billion Network Security industry is forecasted to reach $6 billion worldwide in 2009. It should therefore be no surprise that according to the RHI 2006 Salary Guide, the number one priority cited by Chief Information Officers for their IT departments for 2007 was Network Security Improvements.
Given that Network Security is one of the leading growth industries, RCC has put together a comprehensive program in Network Security for those who do not have a background with networks. This one year program introduces students to Network Architecture and Operating Systems such as Windows and Linux, teaches them about security risks and risk assessment and covers intrusion detection and prevention areas such as Rootkits, viruses, trojans, spyware, keyloggers, botnets, buffer overflow, denial of service, spoofing, web exploitation, DNS spoofing, wireless cracking, packet manipulation, server exploitation tools, privilege escalation, session hijacking, SQL injection, Google hacking, system hardening, entrapment and deception devices.
In addition, courses that are included in the program include Computer Forensics and Disaster Recovery, Network Monitoring & Security Tools, and Network Messaging Systems such as UNIX authentication, Apache Web Server, X Servers, Simple Mail Transfer Protocol (SMTP), Post Office Protocol (POP) and File Transfer Protocol servers (FTP).
