'' The Cambridge Certificate in Advanced English (CAE) is an advanced level examination for learners of English. It is the second highest level Cambridge ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) exam. (It is set at level C1 of the council of Europe’s Common European Framework of Reference for Languages- this would be equivalent to a CAEL [Canadian Academic English Language] assessment level of 70 per cent). The CAE covers the four main language skills- Reading, Writing, Listening and Speaking �as well as knowledge of vocabulary and grammar, and assesses the learner’s ability to communicate in English in real situations. It serves as an adequate standard of English for most purposes, including social and professional situations and for higher education. The CAE is ideal if you want to work or study abroad or to develop a career which requires language skills (e.g. business, medicine, and engineering).
