About the TOEFL Test
The TOEFL test evaluates the English proficiency of people who speak English as a second language. TOEFL test scores are required for admission to 2,400 colleges and universities in the United States and Canada. The TOEFL test is also used by colleges and universities in other countries. Government agencies use TOEFL scores to evaluate English language proficiency.

Taking the TOEFL Test in Canada
TOEFL Computer-based Test (CBT) is no longer used in Canada. Since October 2005, the TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) has been in use. The iBT is being introduced to other countries throughout 2006, and is now available at Vancouver English Centre. The iBT tests all four language skills that are important for effective communication: speaking, listening, reading, and writing. The curriculum of our TOEFL Preparation Program has been adapted to help you prepare for either the Computer-based Test or the Internet-based Test.

TOEFL Scores
Some students think it is very difficult to achieve a TOEFL score that is high enough for admission to a good university or college. Actually, almost any good student can achieve an acceptable TOEFL score, with the help of a good test preparation course.

The TOEFL Preparation Program at Vancouver English Centre
VEC’s TOEFL Preparation Program will help you enter the university system in Canada or the United States. We will prepare you for the TOEFL test quickly and efficiently.

Our modern computer labs will familiarize you with the Internet-based TOEFL (iBT), to ensure you are prepared for the TOEFL test on a computer.

Our Resource Development Team constantly prepares and purchases new resources, to ensure that our students have the latest TOEFL preparation software and textbooks.

The VEC TOEFL Preparation Program includes 3 levels. New students are placed in appropriate levels when they begin. Level adjustments are made every 4 weeks.

Part-time students may join the TOEFL Preparation Program in either the morning or the afternoon. Most TOEFL students, however, are in full-time programs. You may study as many weeks as you like.

TOEFL preparation courses include: Listening Comprehension, Structure, Reading Comprehension, and Writing.

Our teachers specialize in TOEFL. At VEC, you will be taught by a TOEFL expert.

VEC is a certified TOEFL test site. You can take the test in the same lab you have prepared in.
