'' This course covers the theory, underpinning knowledge and practical skills to produce documentation suitable for obtaining a building permit and for the on site construction of Class 2 to 9 Commercial Building Projects building Types "B" and "C", in accordance with the provisions of Volume 1 of the Building Code of Australia.
The program is designed to develop the required skills, appreciation and understanding of residential, industrial and commercial drafting practices in a person who is seeking a Building Design Medium-Rise Licence through the Queensland Building Services Authority (BSA). Students will receive specialist skills and knowledge in construction, full project documentation, problem solving, materials, architectural presentation, surveying, detailing, and computer aided drafting (CAD) and office practices and will meet the technical requirements for a Building Design Medium-Rise Licence through the Building Services Authority (BSA).

Entry requirements Completion of year 12 education in Queensland, its equivalent OR where experience and/or qualifications are indicative of success.Completion of Maths A,B and C as well as English
Completion of Certificate IV in Residential Drafting.
Career possibilities Opportunities may also exist in a professional architectural office as a drafting office technician. Employment opportunities within the building industry for Building Design Meduim-Rise. Students should contact the Building Services Authority (BSA) for further information.
