Course Description:
'' The Pharmacy programs will train future pharmacists to be competent in all areas of contemporary pharmacy practice and significantly contribute to the future of the profession.
The Master of Pharmacy, for pharmacist registration purposes, is articulated with both the Bachelor of Pharmaceutical Science and the Graduate Diploma of Pharmaceutical Science. The Master of Pharmacy extends these two programs by providing students with a broad range of classes, group learning activities, practical skill-development simulations and placements aimed at developing the skills and knowledge necessary to enable them to seek registration as a pharmacist. Upon completion of the Masters program, Griffith University students are eligible to complete 48 weeks of pre-registration training, offered by the Pharmaceutical Society of Australia. Completion of the pre-registration training and meeting the terms of all other statutory requirements is mandatory before registration as a Pharmacist with the Queensland Pharmacists Board.
Upon successful completion of the Master of Pharmacy, students who have a particular interest in undertaking a PhD or preparing for a career in the pharmaceutical industry with a research focus, may embark upon the dissertation component leading to the award of Master of Pharmacy with Honours16 which consists of a further 40CP of studies in research.
Attendance The Master of Pharmacy is offered full-time on campus at the Gold Coast campus.
As a full-time student, you will generally attend 18 hours of scheduled classes per week throughout the semester. Classes may be scheduled during the day and evening throughout the week.
In the Master of Pharmacy, you must maintain a full-time study load. If you have reasons why you cannot maintain enrolment in 40 credit points per semester, you must seek approval from the Program Convenor to take a reduced study load.
