'' To succeed in a professional career in Australia requires high level English skills, generally equating to an IELTS average score of 7 and above. Australian permanent visa and citizenship requirements are also placing a greater emphasis on English language skills.
English for Professionals is a part time intensive course for students who have advanced level proficiency in English (equivalence IELTS 6). The course further develops general language proficiency and focuses on the skills and strategies required to successfully achieve IELTS 7.
Most materials used are Australian and reflect the communication skills needed by professionals in a multicultural society. Materials are drawn from relevant textbooks, journals and newspapers, television and radio. These materials are constantly revised and updated. Who will these studies suit? The course is most suitable for people of non-English speaking backgrounds who want a successful professional career in Australia. You may be a skilled migrant, a current or past overseas student or currently working as a professional.
Entry Criteria Participants for this program need to be able to demonstrate that their level of English language proficiency enables them to manage without difficulty in all aspects of daily life ie social, recreational, community and commerce. At this level, the range of vocabulary available is sufficient to broadly convey meaning. Listening: Can generally follow the main points of group discussions, meetings, lectures, electronic media Speaking: Can participate in discussions, make presentations and respond to questions Reading: Can get the essential meaning of most correspondence, semi-technical materials and non-specialised textbooks Writing: Can convey clear meaning in most formal and informal communications If you are still unsure please contact us for an assessment of your language.
