Course Description:
'' The University of Adelaide and Mannheim University offer a unique joint Masters degree. The Masters of Comparative Law combines coursework in eight courses with a brief dissertation (12,000-15,000 words). Students spend four months of study (October to January) at the University of Mannheim, Germany. The language of instruction in all Master courses is English and knowledge of German is not required. The remainder of the courses is taken at the University of Adelaide. The program enables students to study the different codes of law throughout the world such as common law, civil law and Islamic law. It also enables Australian students to obtain a more detailed understanding of the legal framework in the European Union.
Program Structure
The program has the following components:
Three courses (some of which may be taught on an intensive basis) at the University of Adelaide, to be selected by the student from the list of law courses.
Ten credit hours of courses designated as available for Masters degree students by the Faculty of Law at the University of Mannheim, to be selected by the student from the following courses*:

Diplomatic and Consular Law

Intellectual Property and EC Competition Law
Introduction to German Civil Law
Introduction to German Constitutional Law
Legal Methodology
Private International Law
Public International Law I and II
Seminar on Public International Law
