Course Description:
'' The program aims to develop the skills and knowledge necessary for contemporary public relations practice. The program focuses on the effective management of communication, educates students to communicate in a variety of contexts, teaches them to research the effectiveness of communication, and, through the critical and theoretical approach offered in this program, develop ethical and responsible professional skills.
Entry requirements
Applicants are required to have:
Qualified for the SACE; and Recorded achievement in five SACE subjects taken at Stage 2 level; and Included at least four Stage 2 subjects which are approved Higher Education Selection Subjects (HESS G); Obtained an achievement score of ten or better for prerequisite subjects; Obtained a competitive TER. Alternatively, the minimum educational requirements may be met by those who have:
Completed the equivalent secondary education qualifications as required for university entry under SACE; Completed or partly completed a recognised higher education program at a recognised higher education institution; Completed at least four Open Universities Australia (OUA) courses at the appropriate level; Completed a recognised diploma or associate diploma from TAFE or Certificate IV level course; Completed the International Baccalaureate Diploma; Completed the University Foundation Studies program; Qualified for Special Entry. In addition, international applicants will require an International English Language Test System (IELTS) minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing subscores and a minimum overall score of 6.0 or equivalent.
Content/structure
The Bachelor of Public Relations is equivalent to three years of full-time study or 108 units. The program includes studies in:
4 courses in foundation (18 units) 1 course in Indigenous Australian Studies (4.5 units) 7 courses in professional major, including 6 courses of 4.5 units each (27 units), and 1 course of 9 units (9 units) 6 courses in sub major (27 units) 3 courses in professional concentrations in marketing and ethics (13.5 units) a public relations elective (4.5 units) and an elective of choice (4.5 units) ...''
