Course Description:
'' To produce clinical pharmacists capable of providing specialist pharmaceutical services in hospitals and other clinical environments, thereby enhancing the quality use of medicine. Graduates will be able to take a leading role in the decision making process of drug and drug product selection for individual patients and be able to effectively monitor a patients therapy.
Entry requirements
A person may enrol for the Graduate Certificate if the person fulfils the following criteria:
Australian students
(a) is a registered pharmacist in a State or Territory of Australia (b) is, in the opinion of the Program Director and the Head of School a suitable candidate.
Overseas students
(a) holds an award from a tertiary institution which is at least equivalent to a Bachelor of Pharmacy; and (b) has at least 2 years experience as a registered pharmacist; and (c) is, in the opinion of the Pharmacy Director and the Head of School a suitable candidate.
English language entry requirements In addition, International students who speak English as a foreign language must satisfy the following:
International English Language Testing System (IELTS Academic): Overall score of 7 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL or the appropriate Academic English language level delivered at CELUSA; OR Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at diploma level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; OR Successful completion of at least two years of tertiary study at diploma level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which;
English is an official language; or English is commonly used, as determined by the University. Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of at least two years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the University.
Special Requirements Experience as a registered pharmacist ina patient care environment. Background knowledge of pharmacology, pharmacokinetics and disease pathophysiology is assumed.
Content/structure The program consists of 18 units of study and has been structured to be completed over 6 months or part time equivalent. Students can select any combination of courses from the program schedule list as long as the sum total of units is 18.
