A related undergraduate degree from a Le Cordon Bleu program, plus one year of hospitality industry experience, can apply to enrol directly into the Le Cordon Bleu MBA, or An undergraduate degree in a related discipline plus one year of senior supervisory level experience, or above, can apply to enrol in the Le Cordon Bleu Graduate Certificate in International Hospitality Management. A credit grade average will be required to proceed to the Le Cordon Bleu MBA, or An undergraduate degree in an unrelated discipline plus two years of senior supervisory level experience, or above, can apply to enrol in the Le Cordon Bleu Graduate Certificate in International Hospitality Management. A credit grade average will be required to proceed to the Le Cordon Bleu MBA, or No undergraduate degree qualification but with five years of senior supervisory level experience, or above, can apply to enrol in the Le Cordon Bleu Graduate Certificate in International Hospitality Management. A credit grade average will be required to proceed to the Le Cordon Bleu MBA. All programs are taught in English. For direct entry to a program, students who speak English as a foreign language must have obtained one of the following standards within the last twelve months:
For international applicants for whom English is a second language, the minimum English language requirements are :
International English Language Testing System (IELTS) test: Minimum score of 6.0 in Reading and Writing sub scores and minimum overall score of 6.5 obtained within the last two years or corresponding results from an equivalent test such as TOEFL, CET (Cambridge English Test) or UEC (University Entry Certificate at CELUSA); OR
Successful completion of a tertiary qualification at bachelor level or above completed in Australia within the last two years; OR
Successful completion of two or more years of tertiary study at bachelor level or above conducted and completed in English within the last five years in a country in which: English is an official language; or English is commonly used, as determined by the University.
Where the study in English was more than five years ago, this requirement may be satisfied by subsequent and recent work experience of 2 or more years duration in a setting where English is the language of business subject to satisfactory evidence as determined by the University. Selection of students also involves consideration of:
Motivation to undertake the program and potential to benefit from the program, assessed through written application; Appropriateness of work experience, particularly the length, level and responsibilities held in the hospitality industry; Quality of previous academic record; Demonstrated personal qualities appropriate for managers, assessed through referees reports sought to accompany each application; Two referees reports. Definitions: Senior supervisory level experience means demonstrated:
Team leadership skills; Organisational skills relating to delegated authority to manage a work team; Responsibility to others in relation to physical and human resources; Input into operational management decision making. In hospitality related establishments deemed appropriate by Le Cordon Bleu and the University. A degree in a related discipline means a Bachelor degree in:
Tourism; Hospitality; Hotel and/ or Resort; Ecotourism*; Recreation*; Leisure*; Sport*. *subject to assessment of subjects studied. An unrelated degree means a Bachelor degree in:
Accounting; Commerce; Arts; Generic Business Management; Basically any other Bachelor degree.
Content/structure The program requires completion of courses totalling 54 units. The academic year is of 4 terms of 11 weeks duration, commencing from late January through to mid December each year.
