'' Auditing begins where accounting ends. Traditionally, audit is a systematic and independent examination of books of accounts of a business with the related documents and vouchers. It enables the auditors to satisfy themselves that the balance sheet and profit and loss account are properly drawn up so as to give a true and fair view of state of affairs of the business for the financial period according to the information and explanations given to them. However, in today’s context the scope of audit has been broadened to encompass various types and purposes of audit due to the development in various fields. The advent of computers has impacted an auditor’s ability to perform the attestation function. Computerized information systems are replacing manual information systems (including accounting information systems) in the present day business environment.
