Course Description:

'' You will need 4 GCSEs at Grade A - C or equivalent, e.g. suitable portfolio of work or evidence of appropriate experience. The course is aimed at school leavers and mature students with an interest in fashion and clothing.

Course Details
The course provides a sound basis and education in fashion/clothing and textiles design. It provides an understanding of the wider aspects of design education including self development, promotion and marketing. 5 Core units: Drawing Development, Historical and Contextual Understanding, Materials Techniques and Processes, Ideas and Concepts, Visual Communications. 3 Compulsory Specialist Units: Art and Design Exploration, Art and Design Application, Art and Design Realisation. 5 Specialist Units: Design Principles, Computers in Art and Design, Pattern Construction, Production Techniques, Fashion Marketing, Pattern Development, Garment/Accessory Production, Fashion Presentation Techniques, Exploring Textiles and Surface Pattern. A full supporting programme is available to all students including Key Skills, NCFE Advanced Textiles and an enrichment programme.

Assessment
Assessment is continuous through a series of assignments. At the end of two years there is a final major project that is externally assessed.

Higher Education - Foundation Degree in Fashion and Clothing Technology, BA Fashion Design & Technology, BA/HND Clothing or Employment in the Design Craft Industry, Fashion & Clothing Industry.
