Course Description:

'' No formal entry qualification is required. Entry onto this part time course is by interview. You will need to have an interest in the Hospitality and Catering industry. You must be a good time keeper, well organised and enjoy working with others as a member of a team. You should be working at Entry Level 2 in Literacy and Numeracy for the NVQ 1 and Entry Level 3 for the NVQ 2.

Course Details
The course is designed to give you the skills required to work in the kitchens of Hotels, Restaurants and Industrial Establishments within the Hospitality and Catering Industry. You will gain a qualification in Food Preparation and Cooking. You will have the opportunity to develop an understanding of the Hospitality and Catering industry through visits, guest speakers, and, if needed, a work placement. You will be able to develop your social skills and work as a member of a team.

Duration
1 year

Assessment
Assessment is on a continual basis and carried out in the practical setting of an industrial kitchen. You must demonstrate a high standard in Food Preparation.

Qualification
National Vocational Qualification at Level 1 and 2 C&G, an internationally recognised qualification.

Progression
You may move into employment in various Food Preparation areas in the Hospitality and Catering industry as a Chef or Food Operative. You could set up your own Business. Students who complete Level 1 may also progress to NVQ Level 2 within City College Manchester.
