'' You should have 4 GCSE passes at Grade C or above and a BTEC first qualification in Applied Science or related vocational areas or an Intermediate GNVQ in a appropriate vocational area. Mature students with relevant experience may also be considered.

The course consists of 18 units. The 5 cores units are:
- Scientific Principles
- Laboratory Organisation
- Workplace Practices
- Role of Science Technician
- Scientific Method 13 Specialist units including:
- Introduction to Criminology
- Forensic Photography
- Traffic Accident Investigation
- Forensic Media and Crime
- Forensic Fire Investigation

Assessment
You will be assessed by a combination of assignments, practical, tests and off site projects. There is also an Integrated Vocational Assignment (IVA) which is externally assessed.

BTEC National Diploma in Applied Science (Forensic Science)

Progression
This course provides the knowledge, understanding and skills for learners wishing to start a career in Forensic Science or other science fields. IT provides progression to higher education vocational qualification such as BTEC Higher National Diploma in Applied Sciences or degrees in a range of subjects such as Forensic Science, Applied Sciences etc.
