Course Description:

'' You must have an NVQ level 2 in hairdressing or salon experience. You must be operating at a literacy level 2 or above and be an excellent communicator with people from all backgrounds and age groups. It is desirable but not essential that you have a degree of artistic skill, flair and physical stamina. You should be able to use your hands to be creative and your personality should be vibrant, sparkling and interesting.

Course Details
Learners attend college 3 days per week. If you are aged 16 to 18 your programme will include tutorials, enrichment activities and the development of key skills. You will be expected to attend all these sessions as part of the programme. NVQ Level 3 in hairdressing comprises of 9 Units for the full award. The units are health and safety, advise and consult, creative cutting, creative styling, corrective colouring, promotion of products, creative skills and long hair.

Assessment
Assessment is carried out by observation of practical skills, written/oral questioning, and assignments. Completions of these assessments form a portfolio of evidence.

Qualification
City and Guilds Hairdressing NVQ Level 3.

Progression
Learners may progress to working in a salon as a stylist or progress on to a teacher training course (with 5 years industrial experience).
