Course Description:
'' To summarize, Imperial Hotel Management College (IHMC) is an accredited professional training institution, which offers a 9-month Executive Hotel Management Diploma Program. We have developed a unique relationship with several hotels across Canada, providing a comprehensive training experience for our students. Students live, work and study at the hotel properties, which we refer to as our hotel campuses.
Our academic curriculum is broad-based, covering all the disciplines necessary to run a hospitality business. Examples include, accounting & finance, marketing & sales, information technology, human resources, food & beverage management, rooms division management, and general management. The courses are recognized by the American Hotel & Lodging Association, and students successfully completing the program will also receive certificates and diploma from the Education Institute of the American Hotel and Lodging Association.
The practical portion of the program is equally, if not more important than the academic studies. Students are required to complete a minimum of 500 hours of on-the-job training in all departments of a hotel. Upon completing the 36-week program, an IHMC graduate would have gained work experience in not one, but all major departments of a full size hotel.
While there is a minimum training standard students are expected to meet, students do have the opportunity to develop with the program advisors a more personalized schedule. Depending on the studentsfocus and performance, we have placed trainees at many different types of properties, from downtown business hotels (such as the Fairmont Hotel Vancouver) to smaller boutique type hotels (Opus Hotel in Yaletown), to many other resorts (Relais and Chateaux ranches, or resorts in Lake Louise and Whistler), or even out of town properties such as the Crowne Plaza Toronto Don Valley hotel and the Crowne Plaza Chateau Lacombe in Edmonton.
The cost of the program for students who have accommodations and meals at a hotel campus is $31,000 for 9 months. We also have students joining the program who do not live at the hotel campus. The cost for students who are not living at the hotel campus is $17,000 for the 9 months. Program fees for both options will include all study materials such as textbooks and training uniform.
As we are an accredited college by the Province of British Columbia, both government and private students loans are available to applicants who are accepted into the program. ...''
