'' This course is designed to give you the fundamentals necessary to begin scanning, correcting and altering your images for print, multimedia, and Internet production. The primary focus is getting your image into the computer properly, isolating parts of an image for correction, and preparing the image to achieve a good final output. When you finish the course you will be able to:



· Determine the proper resolution for scanning images and adjust scanner settings to produce a good scan

· Properly alter size and resolution of your images

· Crop images

· Perform simple color correction

· Identify the highlight, shadows, and midtones in an image

· Properly change the contrast and brightness of an image

· Select parts of an image based on shape, color, or boundaries

· Create simple composite images and manage layers

· Rotate, Skew and Scale objects

· Create a drop shadow and cast a shadow

· Blur out background objects

· Sharpen all or part of an image

· Create soft and hard edge effects

· Apply text to an image and reformat it

· Change the color of an object in your image

· Make an object “pop�by altering its saturation value\

· Colorize Black and White images

· Create negatives of your image\

· Create duotones and posterized images

· Repair scratches and dust marks in an image using various retouching techniques

· Replace unwanted elements in your image with color or other images

· Change the rotation and perspective of image elements

· Identify tonal values within an image

· Prepare images for final output

· Identify the best image type for selected output

· Identify differences between images for print, multimedia, and internet

· Identify, alter and create colors based on CMYK, RGB, and HSB color models

· Choose the correct file type for final output

· State the proper resolution for certain line screens, multimedia, and the Internet

· State how output device resolutions affect the final printout

· Manage the memory requirements of Photoshop and your images

· Undo multiple changes to an image
