'' This highly interactive, specialist course, aims to provide the student with a sufficient level of Medical French terminology to help develop the communication skills required to converse with French speaking doctors and patients and colleagues.
This condensed 48 hour four/five week afternoon/evening/ course covers a broad range of topics which include:
Communication in Medical environments, hospital, clinics, homecare, Medical vocabulary, terminology, and Idioms Role-play Doctor Patient relationships Nurse Patient relationships Doctor-patient role-plays (history-taking, instruction and explanation); Preparation and presentation of short talks Writing up and presenting cases; Understanding medical reports and case studies Medical abbreviations Using study material from leading North American Universities and medical institutes, this programme is carefully compiled from specialist medical resources, current case studies, topical reports and journals.
In order to apply for this course, students should already have a basic to intermediate knowledge of French. Students who do not have the necessary level of French are advised to enrol in an additional General French refresher course.
The Medical French course can be taken as a stand alone course or combined with the General French program during or prior to the start of the course.
Upon completing the course the attendants will receive a certificate of achievement from Canada College of Education.
