Course Description The Solaris[tm] 8 Operating Environment System Administrator I course provides information about the essential tasks of standalone installation, file system management, backup procedures, process control, user administration, and device management. Students taking this class will gain the necessary knowledge and skills to perform these essential system administration tasks in the Solaris Operating Environment.

Course Description The Solaris[tm] 8 Operating Environment System Administration II course provides delegates with the skills necessary to administer Sun[tm] systems running the Solaris[tm] 8 Operating Environment in a network environment. Delegates will be taught how to maintain Sun systems, configure and troubleshoot the NFS, and configure the Network Information System (NIS) environment.
Who Will Benefit Delegates who can benefit from this course are technical and application support staff responsible for administering a network server running the Solaris Operating Environment
Prerequisites To succeed in this course, student should be able to:
Install the Solaris Operating Environment on a standalone system, including update patches Understand and perform booting and shutdown procedures and options. Log into a UNIX system and change passwords, add users, and set up file permissions Make directories, set up partitions, and manage files Use the Solaris Operating Environment device naming conventions to configure and name devices Skills Gained After successful completion of this course, the student will be able to:

Course Description The Solaris[tm] Operating Environment -TCP/IP Network Administration course teaches delegates the advanced administration skills required to administer and troubleshoot a local area network (LAN). This course provides hands-on experience with configuration and troubleshooting, as well as Internet Protocol (IP) routing, Domain Name Service (DNS), Dynamic Host Configuration Protocol (DHCP), and IP version 6 (IPv6).
