Training Course:

ATM Fundamentals

School/Trainer:

ENO.com
Stafford, Virginia, United States

Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced

Course Description:

'' A network technology based on transferring data in cells or packets of a fixed size. The small, constant cell size allows ATM equipment to transmit video, audio, and computer data over the same network, and assure that no single type of data hogs the line. ATM creates a fixed channel, or route, between two points whenever data transfer begins. This differs from TCP/IP, in which messages are divided into packets and each packet can take a different route from source to destination. This difference makes it easier to track and bill data usage across an ATM network, but it makes it less adaptable to sudden surges in network traffic.

This ATM course provides the concepts you need to understand Asynchronous Transfer Mode (ATM) in both practice and potential. This class lays the foundation for ATM by explaining all the basics from formats and headers to virtual circuits and connections. We also explore the evolution to an ATM network from a non-ATM network. You will gain a business perspective on how ATM compares with alternative technologies, review the many interfaces, and examine the protocol. In addition to an ATM overview, specific topics featured in this course include: congestion control, the adaptation layer, carrier services, ATM backbones, IP over ATM, voice and video over ATM, Private Network-to-Network Interface (PNNI), MPLS and ATM standard interfaces.

Audience:

All personnel responsible for planning, implementing or supporting ATM networks and information systems..

Prerequisites:

Basic Knowledge of Data communications and Networking

Customize it:

This 2-3-day ATM course will be customized to your needs and specifications. Eno.com will assist you in identifying those needs and specifications. A word to the wise, there are many vendors of wireless training. They will typically have a broad and general course, one size fits all, already developed and just put your organization’s name on the title slide. This minimizes their effort and time investment. At Eno.com, every course is made to your exact and exacting specifications. We help you ensure what you are getting is what you really need even if at the beginning you weren’t too sure of what that was. We fit the class to your needs. We never fit you into our “standard one size fits all, class.

Objectives:

After completing this course, attendees will be able to:

Understand in detail the role and operation of ATM
Select ATM equipment and WAN services
Deploy ATM in your networks
Integrate ATM with existing networks at the desktop and infrastructure
Operate TCP/IP and other protocols in an ATM environment.
