Course Description:
'' This course is designed to provide a general overview for strategic or technical managers, consultants, communications professionals, software engineers, system engineers, network professionals, marketing and sales professional, IT professionals, and others who plan on using, evaluating or working with TDMA wireless networks, applications and services. Prerequisites: A basic understanding of telecommunications transmission principles will be useful for students taking this course. Course Description: TDMA (also known as D-AMPS) is a technology for digital transmission of radio signals between, for example, a mobile telephone and a radio base station. In TDMA, the frequency band is split into a number of channels, which are stacked into short time units, so that several calls can share a single channel without interfering with one another. TDMA is used by the GSM digital mobile standard.
TDMA is based on the IS-136 standard. It is one of the worlds most widely deployed digital wireless systems. It provides a natural evolutionary path for analog AMPS networks, offers efficient coverage and is well suited to emerging applications, such as wireless virtual private networks (VPNs), and is the ideal platform for PCS (Personal Communication Services). Course Objectives: This course provides you with a comprehensive business and technical foundation in TDMA networks, services and applications development. Course Outline: •The Digital Advantage How TDMA Works Evolution of Technology AMPS to TDMA The TDMA Digital Control Channel Features and capabilities Technical description EIA 553 Analog AMPS-based technology platform IS-54B Introduces a TDMA digital traffic channel and a new feature set Authentication, calling number ID, message waiting indicator, and voice privacy. TDMA Rev A Upbanded IS-136 for seamless cellular service between 800 MHz and 1900 MHz frequency bands, over the air activation and programming services developed TDMA Rev B Introduces a range of new features (broadcast SMS, packet data etc.) Advanced TDMA The Advantages of TDMA The Disadvantages of TDMA TDMA Versus CDMA The IS36 Digital-Control Channel (DCCH) ...''
