'' In this course, you will examine the basic Oracle concepts and how they relate to database administrators and developers, identify and apply the techniques of logical database design to design a basic entity-relationship diagram, examine the purpose of denormalization, identify the advantages and disadvantages of iSQL*Plus, write SQL statements to retrieve and manipulate data, create and execute a simple PL/SQL program, list the purpose and syntax of packages, procedures, triggers, and functions, list the objects in an Oracle database, and examine the overall architecture of the Oracle Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
Objectives: After completing this course, you will be able to list the users of Oracle, trace the history of databases, list the phases in the development life cycle for Oracle systems, distinguish between data modeling techniques, create entities, add attributes and relationships, use SQL*Plus, examine the purpose of denormalization, identify the advantages and disadvantages of iSQL*Plus, query with the SELECT statement, work with set operators, subqueries, joins, ANSI SQL: 1999-compliant joins, and grouping functions, work with tables, insert and update data in tables using the MERGE statement, commit and rollback changes to data, control a transaction with savepoints, grant and manage privileges to users. You will also be able to identify variables and constants, describe anonymous blocks, conditional logic flow, and cursors, list the purpose and syntax of packages, procedures, triggers, and functions, list the contents of a datablock, manage datablocks, describe the architecture of Oracle9i, and the overall operation of a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS).
