'' Third Generation (3G) mobile systems offer exciting new wireless packet capabilities, as well as enhanced cost effectiveness for traditional and enhanced voice services. The improved capacity for voice services supports the business case for deployment of 3G systems now, while the new wireless packet capabilities meet a growing demand for wireless Internet services.
Objectives: To provide students with an objective understanding of both of the major 3G radio access technologies, W-CDMA/ UMTS and CDMA2000, and how they provide the enhanced capabilities needed for new multimedia internet services. You’ll discover how current 2G systems form the technical foundation for the 3G systems of tomorrow and how to discuss and compare 3G proposals, as well as the capabilities and service sets 3G systems will offer. Hardware and Software Required: Windows: Pentium 233 (or equivalent) or greater 32 MB of memory (48 MB for NT, 2000, and XP) Windows® 95, 98, 2000, or XP, 16-Bit soundcard with speakers Supported Browsers: Internet Explorer 5.0 or 5.5 (recommended) and Netscape Navigator Required Plugins: Macromedia Flash player 5
