Description: This hands on SQL Server 2005 course presents the Business Intelligence tools included in SQL Server 2005. Topics include the use of Business Intelligence Development Studio along with Integration Services, Analysis Services, and Reporting Services components of SQL Server used to develop solutions for business analysis and decision support. The extensive hands on exercises are structured to build complex skills in a very short time to address practical business problems. The course provides a thorough introduction to decision support database application development, including using use of Unified Dimensional Model (UDM), reporting tools and data integration using Extraction, Transformation and Loading tools of the Integration Services of SQL Server 2005. Students will learn how to effectively consolidate data from a variety of sources and then format the data for analysis to produce consistent and reliable information. Special emphasis is placed on generating information from raw data using Reporting Services. The impact of security policy on the Business Intelligence services is incorporated throughout the course. Students who are already familiar with Reporting Services and who wish to focus more in-depth on Integration Services and Analysis Services should attend the SQL Server 2005 Advanced Business Intelligence rather than this course.

Prerequisites: Familiarity with database concepts and Windows desktop navigation. Attendance at HOTT’s 3-day SQL Programming course, or equivalent knowledge, is recommended but not required.
