We need to understand different cultures and attitudes, and how to avoid conflict that might arise from these differences. At the same time, the fundamentals of business continue, such as having to clinch deals through negotiation strategy, conduct high-performance relationship management, or perform effectively in team environments. Such activities depend on Interpersonal Skills, essential to successful teamwork and collaboration, the dominant working modes of today’s corporate world.

This two-day seminar has thus been designed to provide special emphasis on cross-cultural aspects of interpersonal communication skills in the global context. Speaker - DR. ARLENE BASTION (BA DipEd MEd EdD)
Dr Bastion holds a Doctorate from the University of British Columbia and a Masters Degree from University of Malaya. She has lectured and taught programmes in the areas of Communication Skills, Technical Report Writing and Professional Ethics as Assistant Professor with leading university and educational establishments. Her previous work experience and contacts had also enabled her to understand the modes, techniques and issues of communication in different work settings. Dr Bastion has developed a variety of executives development programmes in "Persuasive Writing", "Negotiation Skills" and "Interpersonal Relationships". Her other research and teaching interests also include Moral Philosophy, Ethics, Education and Critical Thinking.
