'' POWER TALKING: Getting the most out of our words

The "POWER" of our talk determines whether we win or lose. The use of the correct word and phrase can transform and make all the difference in the outcomes of our conversation. On the other hand, bad or ineffective conversations can even destroy relationships. To be a leader is to communicate powerfully. Our talks must be able toa bond with the listener, motivate others to achieve exceptional performance, and achieve the desired business goals with each conversation.

This two-day seminar has been developed for managers, executives and professionals whose effectiveness depends on reaching others through the spoken word. It develops our ability in identifying the right speech style for different work situations, and the use of effective words that make up POWER TALKING. It outlines conversational techniques for organising our ideas while speaking, and effective ways of getting a point across clearly and quickly. This seminar also highlights the use of language in aiding and improving work relationships, and enables us to accomplish more through POWER TALKING.

Dr Carmel Heah holds a PhD in applied linguistics. She has over 15 years’ experience in developing communication training programmes for various professions. She is the author of several English language textbooks and the widely used grammar book entitled "Common Errors in English".
