'' Opening the Door: Access to the Police Force is a free part-time course run in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police Service (MPS) to enable men from minority backgrounds and women who are interested in joining the MPS to successfully complete their selection process. The course includes flexible learning opportunities and tutorial support, and leads to City and Guilds qualifications
Who Is This Course For? Local people interested in a career with the MPS, who meet basic eligibility criteria; applicants referred from the MPS who have completed initial security screening but haven’t embarked on the full application process; and applicants referred from the MPS whose application forms have been successfully processed, but who have been unsuccessful at a particular stage of the selection process, for example written or numeric testing.
Entry Requirements: You should be either a man from a minority background or a woman (from any background). You should be aged 18-50 years, have an interest in joining the Metropolitan Police Service, and have British citizenship or Indefinite Leave to Remain. You will need to fill in an application form and attend an interview, which will give you the opportunity to ask detailed questions about the course. There will be an initial assessment at your interview. Students who have completed an application form and received clearance will be invited to attend an Open Day before the course begins. About the course The course is based on the Metropolitan Police Service’s core competence framework and includes sessions on team building, communication and presentation skills, numeracy and literacy, IT skills, understanding and respecting diversity, and customer relations. Use of the internet is essential for research and many students will utilise Microsoft Powerpoint for individual and team presentations.
Additional Opportunities There are no trips or visits on this course.
