Course Description:

'' The Certificate in First Line Management is a part-time course held one afternoon/evening per week over one full academic year. It covers a complete range of first line management skills and leads to a nationally recognised management award accredited by the ILM (Institute of Leadership and Management).

Who Is This Course For?
Current and potential first line managers.

Entry Requirements:
You will normally need to have two years’ work experience, ideally with some supervisory experience, and be 21 years of age or over. If you have any questions about whether this course is right for you, please ask Admissions for advice

About the course
You will study the following 10 core modules based on the essentials of management: managing self, management skills, understanding organisations, managing change, managing activities, managing resources, developing people, communication, managing information, and managing people. You will be supported throughout the course with tutorial sessions and advice on work based assignments and projects.

Additional Opportunities
You will have one study weekend (from Friday evening to Sunday afternoon).

How will I be assessed?
Assessment is based on assessed on assignments from each module, plus a project and a final verifier’s interview.

Where next?
When you successfully complete this course you can progress to a higher level management programme, such as the Certificate or Diploma in Management Studies or a Masters in Business Administration.
