'' Installing and Maintaining Home Entertainment Systems (BTEC Unit 19) is a part-time course for those who wish to increase their knowledge of the practical aspects of home entertainment systems including radio, television and audiovisual (AV) systems, whether as a hobby or towards a career move.

Those with a keen interest in home entertainment systems and general use of computers.

About the course
The course provides an overview of digital video and audio broadcast and identifies the key enabling technologies behind the systems. It will also cover the various methods of interconnecting systems in order to obtain the most effective signal strength and picture quality. You will gain an understanding of components, circuits and systems used for home entertainment, and learn relevant practical skills in the testing, fault-finding and repair of home entertainment systems. Upon completion of the course you will know the function and operation of home entertainment systems and sub-systems; understand circuits, components and factors relating to home entertainment systems; understand the frequency ranges and modulation methods used for home entertainment systems; and be able to use safe working practices to carry out the installation, fault-finding and repair of home entertainment systems.
