'' Certified Internet Webmaster Associate (CIW) is a part-time course which enables you to master the fundamental knowledge and skills required to work in an internet technology-enabled environment. These skills include basic knowledge of internet technologies such as web browsers, FTP and e-mail; web page authoring using Extensible Hypertext Markup Language (XHTML); basic infrastructure networking and project management. The course provides a certification which enables you to go on to further study and specialisation within the CIW programme.
Who Is This Course For? The course is ideal for all professionals who use the internet.

About the course Your studies will cover three main subjects. 1) Internet Business Foundations will prepare you to work effectively in todays business environment. You will learn about the tasks involved in various information technology (IT) job roles. You will also learn about internet connection methods, internet protocols, and the Domain Name System (DNS). You will study the basic functions of web browsers, the components of web addresses, and the use and control of cookies. You will learn how plug-ins can improve your web browsing experience, and you will use browsers to download and manage files. 2) Site Development Foundations will teach you essential web page development skills. You will learn to develop web sites using Hypertext Markup Language (HTML) and Extensible HTML (XHTML). You will learn to write code manually, as well as use graphical user interface (GUI) authoring tools. You will also learn to insert images, create hyperlinks, and add tables, forms and frames to your web pages. 3) Network Technology Foundations will teach you essential networking technologies and skills including TCP/IP, stable network creation, wireless networking, and network troubleshooting. You will learn to use various network components and protocols that enable users to share data quickly and easily. You will explore the different types of transmission media, and will learn how network architecture and topologies provide for efficient and secure communication. You will learn about the OSI reference model and its relationship to packet creation, and compare and contrast the OSI model with the internet architecture model.
Additional Opportunities There are no trips or visits on this course.
How will I be assessed? CIW exams are available through Pearson VUE and Prometric testing centers.
Where next? Becoming a CIW Associate will enable you to pursue advanced CIW certifications, including CIW Professional, CIW Certified Instructor, Master CIW Web Site Manager, Master CIW Administrator, Master CIW Designer, and Master CIW Enterprise Developer.
