Course Description:

'' Entry to Employment - Construction is a full-time course designed to help you gain skills and qualifications to go into work. The course lasts as little or as long as it takes you to get a job or an apprenticeship. You will receive £40 per week while you remain on the course.

Who Is This Course For?
The course is ideal for young people without any qualifications who want to get a job in construction as soon as possible. You will usually be referred to the college to do this course through your Connexions Adviser.

Entry Requirements:
You do not need any formal qualifications but you must have an interest in developing your basic skills and gaining skills for work in construction at the Skills Centre

About the course
You will study numeracy and literacy or key skills in communication and number plus units in personal and social education, health and safety, working together, career management and your role in work. You will study a range of skills in your chosen subject and you will have a regular one-to-one tutorial and a weekly group tutorial.

Additional Opportunities
You will have the chance to go on trips and gain work related experience, which may include a work placement or work shadowing.

How will I be assessed?
You will work towards a nationally recognised leaver’s certificate, basic skills or key skills at Entry or Level 1, and/or units towards a vocational qualification.

Where next?
When you are ready you can go on to an apprenticeship or another full-time course at the college, or move directly into employment if you wish.
