'' This course is based in our electrical installation workshop at the Skills Centre in Feltham and leads to a City and Guilds Level 2 Certificate in Electrotechnical Technology 2330. Entry Requirements: You should usually have 2 or more GCSEs at grade D or above, or a merit or distinction in a relevant subject at Level 1. We may consider applications with a pass. You should have an interest in electrical installations and be motivated to improve your English, mathematics and IT in order to succeed. You will need to have at least a Level 1 qualification in literacy and numeracy. You will have an initial assessment at the college. You will need to fill in an application form and attend an interview, which will give you the opportunity to ask detailed questions about the course. About the course The course covers the electrical industries, science for electricians, health and safety (including accident prevention), wiring, circuits, cabling, inspecting and testing, and customer service skills.
Additional Opportunities We may visit The Building Exhibition at NEC Birmingham.
How will I be assessed? The course consists of three core units and one occupational unit. Units 1-4 are assessed by an online multiple choice theory test. Units 3 and 4 each have a practical element which will be assessed by a 10-hour practical assignment.
Where next? This course provides a good grounding to go on to another course. To gain the full electrician certificate you will need to have 4 years of industrial experience in electrical installations, and have obtained the Level 2 and Level 3 technical certificates or an NVQ Level 3.
