'' This painting and decorating course leads to a City & Guilds CITB Foundation or Intermediate Construction Award. If you have already completed the foundation level, this course will allow you to progress onto the next stage and work towards an intermediate level qualification. It is based in specialist industry-standard workshops at the Skills Centre in Feltham.
Who Is This Course For?
Students with an interest in painting and decorating who wish to go on to a career in this field.
Entry Requirements:
For the foundation level, you do not need formal qualifications but you must have an interest in painting and decorating. You will have an interview and initial assessment. For the intermediate level, you must have successfully completed the foundation level. You will need to fill in an application form and attend an interview, which will give you the opportunity to ask detailed questions about the course. About the course
Your studies will include storage of materials and equipment, erecting and dismantling basic working platforms, working efficiently, preparing the work area for operations, preparing surfaces for decoration, applying paint materials by brush and roller, applying standard wallpapers to non-complex areas, and applying basic specialist paint finishes.
Additional Opportunities
There may be an opportunity to visit other sites and the Building Exhibition.
How will I be assessed?
The course is assessed through a combination of practical projects, written assignments and written tests. You will also have to complete a phase test and two multi-choice papers and provide work-based evidence.
Where next?
The course provides a good grounding for you to progress onto a Level 3 course or start work.
