'' ESOL Destination Business Administration is for more advanced ESOL students, and consists of about 50% English and 50% vocational study. The course is held 14 hours per week over 4 days, and lasts for 1 year.
Who Is This Course For? This course is for bilingual adults who want to improve their English and develop skills in office work and IT. It combines language learning with practical business administration skills in order to build your confidence and prepare you for further training and employment.
Entry Requirements: You do not need to have any previous qualifications in business or IT. You will be interviewed before you enrol on the course, and you will have a written assessment to establish your level of language and maths skills. About the course You will study office procedures, keyboarding, telephone work, taking messages, letters, filing, handling post, health and safety, preparing for job interviews, word processing, databases and spreadsheets using Microsoft Office, IT skills, English (speaking, listening, reading and writing), and numeracy/maths. You will have a group tutorial every week. Your tutor will support you throughout the course and ensure that your learning needs are met.
Additional Opportunities If you develop your skills sufficiently you may have the opportunity for work experience with local employers. This is a valuable opportunity to put the skills and knowledge you have learned on the course into practice.
How will I be assessed? Assessment is continuous throughout the course and you will build a portfolio of work leading to the NVQ Level 1 in Business Administration. You will also work towards Skills for Life qualifications. Much of the assessment will take place in an office.
Where next? You will be encouraged to develop your own learning plans for the future and you will have the opportunity to get advice from careers advisers and other agencies. When you complete this course, you may wish to go into employment in an office or on to further study.
