Course Description:

'' Students with an interest in pursuing a career in the sport and leisure industry, such as in sports coaching, personal training, lifeguarding, physiology or sports psychology. Good sporting ability is an advantage but not essential, however parts of the course will be practical.

Entry Requirements:
You should have 2 GCSEs at grade D or above (including English) or a Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject, with a merit or distinction grade (pass grades will be considered). You will need to fill in an application form and attend an interview, which will give you the opportunity to ask detailed questions about the course. About the course
You will study six units, including the body in sport, the sports industry, planning and leading sports activities, and practical sport. You will also study key skills in literacy, numeracy and IT.

Additional Opportunities
You will have opportunities to gain qualifications in first aid, lifeguarding, and coaching.

How will I be assessed?
Each unit will be assessed by a series of assignments, with both practical and theory elements. Each assignment is graded pass, merit or distinction and the grades will contribute towards your overall result. Key skills will be assessed by means of a portfolio and an external exam.
