'' The Certificate in Coaching in the Workplace is a part-time Level 3 course held on a flexible basis over approximately 12 months. It is designed to help you develop your coaching skills so that you can coach individual learners and help them to develop. The course leads to a City and Guilds qualification.
Who Is This Course For? People who wish to gain a qualification to coach individuals in a variety of contexts and to encourage individual learning.
Entry Requirements: No previous qualifications are required, but you must be educated to GCSE standard and be in a position to coach individuals. You need to be able to identify individual needs, coach individuals and monitor their progress, identify barriers to learning and provide feedback. You will need to fill in an application form and may be asked to attend an interview, which will give you the opportunity to ask detailed questions about the course. About the course The course is normally held on a one-to-one basis and consists of an induction plus individual tutorials. The Certificate in Coaching in the Workplace is made up of 4 units: enable individual learning through coaching, support and advise individual learners, monitor and review progress with learners, and evaluate and develop own practice. You will be assessed to ensure you meet the performance criteria for the award. You must be able to provide support to two individuals through coaching. The course covers the following: introduction to the standards and portfolio building, identifying individual needs and learning styles, choosing the manner and speed of coaching, checking on the progress of learners, giving feedback to learners, reviewing the potential for e-learning support for learners, helping learners to apply their learning, giving ongoing support to learners, and the role of quality assurance.
Additional Opportunities There are no trips or visits on this course.
How will I be assessed? This is a work based qualification and assessment is by means of a portfolio of evidence which you will produce. The evidence must include you being observed carrying out coaching activities. Your portfolio will then be assessed both internally and externally.
