Course Description:
'' CELTA courses are designed for people with no previous teaching experience. During the course, you will develop familiarity with the principles of effective teaching and acquire practical skills for teaching English to adult learners. The course includes teaching practice, observation of experienced teachers in the classroom and completion of a range of practically focused written assignments.

How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continuously throughout the course. There is no final examination. There are two components of assessment: assessment of teaching practice, and written assignments. For the assessment of teaching practice, you will teach for a total of 6 hours, working with classes at 2 levels of ability. The assessment is based on your overall performance during and at the end of the 6 hours. Your written assignments will consist of 4 assignments which you will complete exploring aspects of teaching and learning English to adults. To be successful, you must pass both components. If you are successful, you will receive a certificate awarded by the University of Cambridge Local Examinations Syndicate. The centre also provides a report on performance and achievement for each candidate.
Where next?
After completing the training programme, you can develop a career in teaching English language to adults, either in the UK or overseas, and go on to Cambridge Module 2 and become a fully qualified ESOL teacher for adults in the UK.
