Course Description:

'' The course uses a computer based learning package. Your tutor will introduce you to Galileo and what can be done with it. You will then be able to work at your own speed. This programme uses real examples from airlines and airports around the world and consists of introductions to a subject, exercises and mini tests. When you are competent you will be entered for the Galileo First Class certificate which is accredited by the International Air Transport Association (IATA) and carries 10 IATA points. You will use learning materials, both on-line and hard copy, in our Resource Based Learning Centre. Tutors are present throughout each session to provide help when required and to ensure that you progress satisfactorily. Your tutors have experience in the field of travel. If something new appears on your screen they will use real examples to explain how and why the system works. The review sessions on the screen allow you to see just how well you are doing.

How will I be assessed?
On satisfactory completion of a written test you will be awarded a college certificate. In order to be awarded the Galileo First Class Certificate you must pass an open book examination. If you are unsuccessful you may apply to re-sit.

Where next?
When you are competent in using the Galileo Computerised Reservations System you may wish to go on to our Worldwide Airfares and Ticketing courses. These courses are also accredited by the IATA and complement the Galileo First Class Certificate. Attractive opportunities for employment in the travel and tourism industry are available for those holding these qualifications.
