'' Applied Yoga Therapy (1) Students will understand disease according to yogic concepts. Students create the model of Yoga Therapy accoring to the changes in the state of dosha,cosha,chakra and agni in relation to modern pathology of disease. Correct use of all the practices of yoga (asana, pranayama, meditation and shad kriyas) in yoga therapy is described and demonstrated as they apply in a clinical situation. The practices of yoga influence, positively and naturally, the functions of body and mind, to enhance the quality of life. Wherever people live and work, their quality of life is determined to a large extent by personal factors, especially their health. The complex inter-relationship of body and mind is recognized by yoga and used to assist individuals to accommodate, adjust and realign their physical, mental, energetic and emotional capacities, to achieve a greater level of well-being
Applied Yoga Therapy (2) The understanding of physical conditions and their effect on the body is essential to the practice of Yoga Therapy. Students are exposed to a range of conditions, their causation, progression and symptoms, which will assit them to make clinical jugdements.
Deepening and maturing personal practice. Advanced yoga pranayama practices are designed to further develop personal practice as well as to experience the mental effects and develop a link between the concious and subconcious minds. The effective use of these practices in therapeutic situations will also be covered. In exploring the yoga meditation tradition students identify the therapeutic usefulness of meditation to calm the mind and also build a bridge between mind and self, both on a personal level and for clients. Yoga cleansing practices are for achieveing balance in the doshas at the physical level, as imbalance of these is the cause of disease and has a huge impact on mental planes. The shad Kriyas are described and demonstrated to enhance personal practice and for effective use in yoga therapy. ...''
