'' The physical practices of yoga include asana (postures), pranayama (breath control) and cleansing processes (shad kriya). This course focuses on the practice of asana and how it can benefit all types of people. Students learn the correct application of asana and how to incorporate it into their personal lives. They also gain practical experience in teaching asana classes.
The controlled use of breath has been developed into a high art in the yoga tradition. Pranayama can assist with restoring vitality, health, relaxation and many other benefits, and students will learn how the techniques are applied within a yoga environment.
Deep relaxation is a very healing process and yoga has developed some specific techniques that take one into this state. The student will learn and experience the states of relaxation and how these can be applied to a personal practice, yoga classes and yoga therapy.
The stilling of the mind is a science that has been developed in yoga over the centuries. Through this stillness we begin to experience our unity with all things and become aware of who we really are. Students will be guided in the methods of reaching this state and shown how it can be applied, both in personal practice and in yoga classes.
