Training Course:Dimensioning and Tolerancing Principles for Gages and FixturesSchool/Trainer:American Society of Mechanical Engineers CHICAGO, LAS VEGAS, UNITED STATES
Course Format: Classroom | E-learning | Virtual Class | Online | On-site | Blended | Self-paced
Course Description:
'' Participants of this course will study and apply techniques on the proper design, dimensioning and tolerancing of GO gages, NOGO gages, Functional Gages and Fixtures per the newly issued ASME Y14.43-2003 standard entitled Dimensioning and Tolerancing Principles for Gages and Fixtures. It will also allow anyone involved in the application or interpretation of Dimensioning and Tolerancing of products a more thorough understanding of these principles provided by the knowledge of how to properly gage and fixture them.
This course is a mixture of lecture, discussion and application working directly with the Y14.43 standard and a wide assortment of handout materials. Industry professionals will finally have a standard to follow that lays out the rules, guidelines and principles approved by ANSI and the Department of Defense on how to correctly design, dimension and tolerance gages and fixtures. All course participants will leave with a thorough understanding of these principles. This course is taught by the chairman of the Y14.43 standard.
COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Study and apply the rules, principles and practices of gage and fixture design, dimensioning and tolerancing per the newly approved standard entitled Y14.43-2003 Dimensioning and Tolerancing Principles for Gages and Fixtures Extend the principles contained in ASME Y14.5M-1994 (which is not a gaging standard) to gages and fixtures so that they can be applied to manufacturing and inspection Learn how choices made on how we design, dimension and tolerance gages and fixtures determine whether good parts will be rejected and/or bad parts will be accepted Learn how to correct in-house gage and fixture designs Practice the proper simulation of datum features WHO SHOULD ATTEND:
All those persons with an interest in learning the new rules, regulations and preferred ASME and ANSI practices per the newly released standard Y14.43-2003 on the design, dimensioning and tolerancing of GO gages, NOGO gages, Functional Gages (to verify geometric tolerances) and Fixtures (to stabilize parts for manu-facturing and inspection) Gage Designers, Fixture Designers, Manufacturing Engineers, Process Engineers, Quality Engineers , Inspectors and/or Anyone wishing to strengthen their knowledge of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing Course participants should have a basic knowledge of the Y14.5 standard in order to optimize their training experience ...''
