Course Description:

'' Extensible Markup Language (XML) is rapidly becoming the integrating agent for important new programming frameworks such as Microsoft.Net and Java 2 Enterprise Edition. When XML and the Java Programming Language are used collaboratively, software engineers are given a powerful programming environment for developing a wide range of applications.

This course introduces XML and its use with the Java Language. The student is shown what XML is and how to structure and write proper XML documents. Then the combination of XML documents and CSS and XSLT style sheets is presented.The course also covers the use of Java for parsing and manipulating the information in an XML document. The use of open software products such as XERCES, XALAN, and JDOM is covered. A survey of the current technologies driving the use of XML is also presented.

Upon completion of the course, participants should have the information needed to begin development of Java applications that enlist XML as well as XML applications that make use of Java.
