Course Description:
'' Students will focus on the new features, functionality, and advancements from ASP.NET 1.x to ASP.NET 2.0 in creating applications. Covering the major features of ASP.NET 2.0 we will also discuss appropriate and inappropriate use of the various technologies. The focus is on providing students with practical skills required to be productive with ASP.NET as quickly as possible.
Course Objectives
After completing this course, students will be able to:
Create an ASP.NET 2.0 application.
Create master pages that permit the reuse of code across pages.
Use ASP.NET 2.0 functionality to connect to, bind, and display data from a variety of data sources.
Create a Wizard control and implement site navigation.
Explain the enhancements provided for state management in ASP.NET 2.0.
Identify the components and characteristics of Web Parts, build Web pages by using Web Parts, edit and list Web Parts, and connect Web Parts.
Customize Web applications by using user profiles and themes.
Implement the enhanced security controls in ASP.NET 2.0.
Explain ASP.NET 2.0 configuration and instrumentation.

This course uses Microsoft Windows XP, the Microsoft .NET 2.0 Framework, and Microsoft Visual Studio 2005.
Prerequisites
This course is intended for beginning Web developers who know HTML or DHTML and have some scripting language (VBScript or Jscript) or Visual Basic 6.0 experience.
Before attending this course, students should be experienced professional web application developers and solution developers and have a basic understanding of .NET development, Microsoft ASP.NET 1.1/1.X, HTML, and XML. It is also recommended that students have some familiarity with the Microsoft Visual Studio IDE. Please email the instructor with any questions you have about the prerequisites.
