'' This five-day course provides comprehensive information concerning the processes, parameters, and commands associated with the most common Solaris system administration tasks.
You Will Learn To...
Identify the components of the Solaris operating environment, and describe the most significant features. Describe the files and parameters involved in establishing groups and user accounts, and associating those files and parameters with system security. Describe the nomenclature used to identify physical/logical devices, and identify the tasks, commands, and utilities involved in configuring/managing devices. Describe the directory hierarchy, identify/describe the contents of standard ufs file systems, and perform steps for mounting/unmounting/maintaining file systems. Identify the tools used, and perform steps to view, kill, and schedule processes. Describe the print services, and perform steps to establish and administer local and remote printers. Describe the contents of the Boot PROM and NVRAM, system run levels and associated directories, and shutdown procedures. List the requirements for, and describe the steps involved in base software installation, and installation/administration of software packages and patches. Define the need for backups, and describe/differentiate the tools used for backup and recovery. Prerequisites & Audience
