'' A three year program, Asian Dance is a professional diploma. This course recognizes that the tradition and folklore of South East Asia offers a great cultural platform for students in the performing arts & dances.
It introduces students to the history of Asian dance styles. They learn how Asian dance has evolved from historical influences through legend and folklore. Besides, they are also introduced to costume techniques and construction. It will enable them to have a better understanding of dance movements as well as traditional dance techniques.
In the second year students learn how to perform a contemporary dance form, and learn the concept of music for performance. While they advance in skills they study in the first year, students will by this time be able to realize dance costumes as well with an understanding of business and entrepreneurship.
In the final year students have an exciting module in Multimedia Application. they learn how to capture dance pieces in multimedia.
The career opportunity for Asian Dance is fast becoming evident in inter-disciplinary areas. While it has some level of business planning and management it makes the dancer ready for the industry. With the addition of Creative Industry Practice in the final semester it offers a chance to students to work in ‘live�performance projects, theatre and musicals.
