'' The ability to communicate with Spanish speaking members is becoming more important to our credit unions. These interactive courses will help you learn and pronounce important phrases and frequently used financial terms. It will also build your confidence to process basic transactions with Latino members. The online module contains 6 courses.
Following are the learning objectives for each course:
The Latino Culture and Your Credit Union: - Cite three key reasons why Spanish-speaking skills are important to credit unions - Explain the importance of serving the Latino market - List the types of transactions you may perform for Spanish-speaking members - Identify two opening and two clarifying phrases to assist in conversations with Spanish-speaking members - Use opening and clarifying phrases to assist in conversations with Spanish- speaking members
Spanish Foundations and Member Greetings: - Recognize and recite the letters of the Spanish alphabet - Distinguish between accurate and inaccurate pronunciation of Spanish words - Recognize and correctly pronounce basic member greetings - Respond appropriately to member greetings - Translate basic greetings
Basic Credit Union Terms and Phrases: - Distinguish between masculine and feminine nouns - Identify and use basic credit union terms - Recognize and recite basic member service phrases - Match English and Spanish terms and phrases - Translate basic credit union terms and phrases
The Spanish Calendar: - State the days of the week - Recite the months of the year - Name the seasons of the year - Recognize and recite basic Spanish numbers - Translate time and timing
Numbers, Coins, and Currency: - Recognize and recite Spanish numbers - Identify and verbalize Spanish words for coins and currency - Use and verbalize numbers, coins, and currency - Calculate amounts and communicate results to members
Transactions with Spanish-Speaking Members: - Gather personal information - Acquire appropriate identification - Discuss account information - Explain credit and loan applications - Identify additional resources
