'' This challenging and exciting advanced course consists of an in-depth, scene by scene study of a feature film adaptation of a major piece of work in French literature. Students will analyze and discuss the development of the story line and the characters, as well as the cinematographic use of images to reinforce the storyline.
This lively reading, watching, listening and discussion course gives students the opportunity to obtain a basic knowledge of classic and modern French literature, as well as gain a better understanding of the French people and their culture.
In this course you will:
Improve your oral comprehension and expression Familiarize yourself with the diverse accents and speaking patterns of the various regions of France or French-speaking countries Become skilled at distinguishing between the different levels of language Broaden your vocabulary while learning new idiomatic and/or slang expressions and understanding the context in which they may be used Learn the common gestures and facial expressions used in communication Review some major grammar points as used in context Develop more confidence in your speaking skills through conversations on the programs viewed and the topics discussed Acquire a greater understanding of the French historical, social and cultural context which constitute the background of the films and novels studied ...''
