'' The Sun JAVA Desktop System is an easy-to-use graphical operating system similar to Microsoft Windows. The product includes web browsing capabilities, has e-mail software similar to Microsoft Outlook, and an office suite similar to Microsoft Office. This product can open files created with Microsoft Office and also creates files compatible with Microsoft Office. Through discussion and hands-on use, students will learn if this operating system is right for them. During this class session, students will install, configure, and use this operating system.
The Sun JAVA Desktop System has the ability to share files and printers with Microsoft Windows and Macintosh computer systems and, because of its Linux roots, is incompatible with Windows-based viruses.
