'' This graduate-level course is intended to introduce managers and other non-statisticians to the use of regression analysis in decision making. The course is taught from an applied perspective. Successful application of regression models requires a solid understanding of both the underlying theory and the practical problems that are encountered in using the models in real-life situations. Widely used statistical analysis tools such as Minitab and SPSS will be employed to analyze data from studies in management, manufacturing, healthcare, biosciences and other fields. The course is structured around weekly readings, software tutorials, and practice exercises and case studies designed to develop student decision-making and analytical skills. All aspects of the course are taught online using the Sakai distance learning platform. Topics addressed in the course include: linear regression, inference and correlation analysis, multiple regression model building, diagnostics and remedial measures, and nonlinear regression. Upon completion of the course, students will have acquired a rather sophisticated ability to apply regression analysis to a wide range of problems encountered in their work environment. A working knowledge of introductory statistics is required. Students should also be familiar with the use of a statistical analysis software package such as Minitab, SPSS, or SAS. ...''
